Yellow – the colour of happiness and optimism, a cheerful and energetic colour that brings fun and joy to the world. It inspires thought and curiosity and boosts enthusiasm and confidence.
I’m not sure if its because I am an optimist, but yellow has long been my favourite colour. Collage helps me find my way into my practice and I thought for this Artist in Focus Series I would focus on yellow artworks incorporating collage and paintings inspired by my collages. I have also included a few works in oil, which is a new medium for me, but which I am starting to grasp and enjoy.
At a time when we have so many worries and things to be negative about, let us not forgive the simple pleasures in life and allow them to touch our hearts and spirits and bring us back into presence.
The feeling of the sun on our skins. The taste of a lemon pie. The beauty in a sunflower. A swaying daffodil in a field.
Allow the colour yellow to stimulate your senses.
