Analogue Kid | 2023
Amid a rapidly evolving technological era, increasing financial pressures, and an overwhelming influx of information, humanity finds itself at a pivotal crossroad. Technological advancements are accelerating at an alarming rate and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is poised to reshape our lives.
Feelings of digital fatigue were pervading my daily existence and the yearning for simpler, more playful times was what sparked the idea for Analogue Kid.
Through the making of this show, I fulfilled a desire to rekindle the innocence of play and to reconnect with the nostalgic paraphernalia of my 70s childhood – a time occupied with Lego, marbles, dominos, board games and building blocks. I used these simple materials in combination to create a body of wall-hung assemblages that had their genesis in the 70s era but stood as unique creations in their own right.
